William Booth (1829–1912) was a British Methodist preacher and social reformer who founded The Salvation Army in 1865. His mission was to reach out to the poor, the downtrodden, and the neglected, offering them not just spiritual salvation but also practical help. The Salvation Army grew from a small mission in London to an international
