Important Healing Questions We Must Ask Ourselves

Below are some very important questions we must ask about healing and the ministry of Jesus. Just by asking the right questions, you can come up with the right answers. Discover for yourself by answering the following questions from the Word of God.

Healing Questions

  1. Did the stripes of Jesus pay for healing and deliverance for everyone?
  2. Yes. According to Isaiah 53 there is no mention of who can’t be healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5

4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Matthew 8:16-17

16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

  1. Was it and is it the will of Jesus and God for everyone to be healed and delivered from the devil?
  2. There is no mention anywhere in the New Testament of Jesus not healing anyone who came to him. The Bible says He healed all that were oppressed by the devil.

Acts 10:38

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

  1. Is it ever the will of God for someone to not be healed and delivered?
  2. The Bible reveals that Jesus died for everyone, but those who reject Him don’t receive anything from Him. This is why He couldn’t do any mighty miracles in His hometown of Nazareth. They didn’t come to Him, but the ones who came to Him He healed.

Mark 6:1-6

1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Luke 7:30

30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

John 12:37-41

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

  1. Did Jesus punish anyone by putting a sickness on them?
  2. There is no record of Jesus putting sickness on anyone. Jesus considered anyone who needed healing as oppressed by the devil and He healed all that were oppressed by the devil.

Acts 10:38

38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Matthew 12:15

15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

Luke 6:19

19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

  1. Did Jesus ever put a sickness on someone to teach them a lesson?
  2. No! Jesus said He would send us the Holy Spirit to teach us.

John 14:25-26

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

  1. Did Jesus ever dig into someone’s past before He healed them?
  2. No. Jesus healed everyone who came to Him, and there is no record of Jesus asking why they were sick. Jesus considered everyone that was sick as a captive of the enemy and needed to be set free.

Luke 13:11-17

11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

  1. Did Jesus deal with a generational sin before He healed them?
  2. No! Jesus was not concerned with generational curses. When He healed the man that was born blind He said that neither him or his parents sinned. This is the only time mentioned in the Scriptures where a generational curse was mentioned. It was the Apostles that brought this up and not Jesus. All sickness has its roots in the devil. The only generational curse worth mentioning is the fall of Adam.

John 9:1-7

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

  1. Did Jesus ever feel the power of God when He healed people?
  2. No. the only mention where of Jesus knowing that virtue went out of Him is in the story of the woman with the issue of blood. The Scriptures said she felt in her body she was healed, but it says Jesus perceived virtue went out of Him. Perception has to do with a knowing and not a feeling. The word perceive means: to know, to receive knowledge of, and to discern.

Mark 5:24-34

24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.

34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

Luke 8:43-48

43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,

44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.

45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

  1. Did Jesus have to be led by the Spirit to heal someone?
  2. No! Jesus healed everyone that came across His path, sat under His preaching, touched His garment, or simply asked for healing for themselves or someone they knew who need healing.

  1. Did it take a long time for people to get healed during His ministry?
  2. No! Everyone was healed immediately or within the hour.

Matthew 8:1-4

1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.

2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Matthew 20:29-34

29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.

30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.

31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.

32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?

33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.

Mark 1:30-31

30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.

31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

  1. Did Jesus decide to heal some and not others, or did He heal everyone who came to Him?
  2. No. The Scriptures says He healed all of them that came to Him.

Matthew 4:23-24

23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

Matthew 12:14-16

14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

16 And charged them that they should not make him known:

Luke 4:40

40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

Luke 6:17-19

17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

  1. Did Jesus decide when someone was healed?
  2. Yes. People were healed when Jesus laid His hands on them or spoke a command to them. Some were healed by them touching them and when they touched Him, they were healed immediately.

Mark 1:31

31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

Luke 6:19

19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

  1. Could Jesus heal and deliver people at will?
  2. Yes! Jesus determined who was healed excepting in the case where they touched Him.

  1. Did Jesus pray for people to be healed?
  2. No! Jesus never prayed for someone to be healed like some people think. When Jesus healed people, He laid hands on them or spoke a command to them. Jesus considered the prayer of faith a command. Many people think prayer is asking God to do something. Jesus never asked the Father if He could heal anyone, He just healed them with His Words.

Mark 11:22-24

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Matthew 8:1-4
